MUSICAL DIRECTOR

David M. Conway
Born in 1971, David has been involved in local music groups from an early age. After years of playing and conducting with numerous brass bands David turned his attention to singing with mixed voice and male voice choirs.

David's musical commitments are wide and varied. As well as conducting Lemington Male Voice Choir David was also the Musical Director of Felling Male Voice Choir for a number of years and is in demand as a vocal and instrumental soloist and as a conductor. David is also a member of The Felling Band, one of the leading brass bands in the North East of England.

David enjoys conducting and has had the pleasure to work with many performers including Aled Jones, Fairey's Band, The King's Singers, Sir Thomas Allen and our very own Graeme Danby and Valerie Reid to name a few. He is keen to develop all avenues of vocal performance but, after nearly 20 years, has a special connection with male voice singing.

David graduated from the Open University where he studied Mathematics and Computing, then gained a Masters degree in IT Management from the University of Sunderland, where he specialised in IT law and information security. He now works at the University of Sunderland in the position of Head of IT Systems.

 

DEPUTY MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Mike D. Scott
Born in 1944 and is married to Leila, they have two adopted sons. He is a retired Commercial Insurance Broker.

A member of Felling MVC from 1977 to date and was Secretary from 1997 to 2004. He is currently Assistant Treasurer and in charge of recruitment.

He was a member of Northern Opera Ltd from 1976 to 2006 (when company closed) and Chorus Director from 2000 to 2006. He Founded the Grainger Singers in 1981 and is their conductor. The choir is a mixed voice group of 25 which has its roots in Northern Opera Ltd.

He has also been a member of the Bishopwearmouth Choral Society since 2007 and is also a member of Tynemouth Gilbert and Sullivan Society since 2007, although only involved in staged productions – January to June annually.

Mike has many years experience on stage in musicals, G & S, opera and operetta – various societies from 1964 to the present time.

He was appointed Deputy Musical Director of the Lemington MVC in September 2008

 

ACCOMPANIST

Tracy A. Conway

Tracy Conway is the Choir’s Accompanist.  She graduated from St Martin's College Lancaster, achieving a degree in Music and Teaching and now studies with David Murray. 

Tracy has won various solo classes at local music festivals and has performed as a bassoon and piano soloist at many concerts. Tracy is married to David, the choirs Musical Director.

 

 

ASSISTANT ACCOMPANIST

Philip F. Chapman

Philip Chapman is a well respected accompanist who is much in demand in the North East. He has a busy schedule working with Felling Concert Choir, Low Fell Singers and Lemington Male Voice Choir.
